He wants Team Urameshi to win because he desires a rematch with Yusuke, as he promised Sakyo. Eventually, Kuwabara becomes arrogant and forces Risho to show his Shinobi power. Risho is the Master of Earth. He raises his finger and the ground trembles. Risho uses his Armor of Clay technique to cover his body with earth armor. He jumps into the air and crashes into the ring like a giant meteor. Kuwabara refuses to give up. In the end, Kuwabara realizes he can't win. He decides to use his life energy, just like Yusuke did against the final Saint.
